The New School Montessori in Cincinnati, Ohio embarked on the largest rainbow to date: a 12 segment, 144 student rainbow with children ages 3-12. It is almost 100 feet of color.
Aliens to Montessori grammar symbols were the topics explored in the context of ROYGBIV. Pieces of glass became people, water, carrots, space ships, and “Spiders walking at night and a comet shooting over it.”
The week-long workshops were filled with collaboration, community and creativity.
The Rainbows were revealed at the year end celebration, Arty Gras, before installation at the Gallery One One Show at Brazee Street Studios in June and July. In the Fall, the rainbows will find a permanent home or homes at the school TBD.
Emily Repp, of Brazee Street School of Glass , brought some glass to add to the festivities at Arty Gras. More rainbows, anyone?
